Explore Vermont Archival Records

The Vermont State Archives and Records Administration strives to make as many state archival records in the state archives available online as possible. Born-digital archival public records transferred into the state archives are available through the digital state archives, called VT Re•tain. Analog records digitized in response to a public records request may also be added to VT Re•tain.

Through partnerships with online content providers, state archival records such as vital records and newspapers of record are available online to Vermont residents free of charge. For some state archival records, we also have searchable databases that contain digital copies of state archival records and/or detailed indices.
