Resource Library

Welcome to the Vermont Historical Records Program Resource Library! Here you can find guidance to assist you in protecting, preserving, and providing access to your organization’s historical records. Select a category from the list below to get started.

If you are just getting started, the Michigan History Center has a series of five videos on the basics of archives and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission has a brief video on basic archival concepts.

If you are a local historical society or museum, you should also check out the Local History Resources from the Vermont Historical Society.

An overall guide that covers much of this material for museums and other cultural heritage institutions is UNESCO’s Running a Museum: A Practical Handbook.
