The Nye index is a name index to the Manuscript Vermont State Papers and other early Vermont records. The index was originally created as a personal name card file by Mary Greene Nye, the Editor of State Papers from 1927 through 1950. The entire card file, with entries for records up through the 1850s, is located in the Vermont State Archives and Records Administration's Reference Room and is open to the public. Pre-1800 entries found in the card file, however, can be searched online.
