Engineering Forms & Instructions

The Board of Engineering, together with the Secretary of State’s Office of Professional Regulation (OPR), work to administer licensing for your profession. The documents on this page serve to guide applicants and licensees through initial application or renewal. Before you begin your initial, renewal, or reinstatement application, please review OPR’s application fees and 90 Day Initial Licensing Policy.

Please log in to our Online Services System, to apply, renew, update an application/license, request a verification, and more.

FE and P&P Examinations

  • Engineer Interns
    • The Board no longer requires that engineering students in ABET-accredited bachelor’s programs complete an online application for specific Board approval prior to registering with the NCEES to take the FE exam. Please review the Board policy regarding this change.
    • The Board must receive an online application for applicants applying via the 6-years of experience route and applicants with a Non-ABET accredited bachelor’s degree program. You will be sent an email confirming your ability to sit for the exam, after the Board reviews your application.
  • Professional Engineers
    • You can not register with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) to take the Principles and Practice examination without prior approval from the Vermont Board of Professional Engineering.
    • You will be sent an email confirming your ability to sit for the exam, after the Board reviews your application.
    • Board Approved Exams and Disciplines

Application Deadlines

  • The Fundamentals exam is offered as a computer-based test year-round (Monday-Friday).
  • The Principles and Practice exam is offered in April and October. Complete applications must be received by this Office by January 25th for the April exam, and by July 25th for the October exam.

CE

Per H.305 (2023), where administrative rules require in-person or face-to-face continuing education, synchronous (live or interactive and not pre-recorded) virtual continuing education courses qualify as live, in-person training and will be accepted for renewal.
