Montpelier, VT – Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas announced today that her office has launched an Online Vermont Voter Guide for the 2024 General Election coming up in November. This is a first for the Secretary of State’s office and the Secretary hopes the Voter Guide becomes a regular part of the elections landscape in Vermont in the future.
“Universal Vote by Mail gives voters ample time to research the candidates on their ballot,” said Secretary Copeland Hanzas. “I wanted to provide voters with the information they need to make informed choices, and my team has done a great job gathering candidate responses and producing the online Guide. We look forward to getting feedback and improving on the Guide in years to come.”
All federal, statewide, and legislative candidates were invited to submit a profile that includes a photo, a candidate statement, contact information, and social media links. The Guide also includes voting instructions and a list of position descriptions for elected officials so that people can learn more about the duties of each office.
The Online Vermont Voter Guide is available in two formats:
“My Voter Page is definitely the best and most informative way for voters to engage with the Guide,” said Secretary Copeland Hanzas. “Using My Voter Page provides the voter with a personalized Guide that matches their sample ballot, so they get the most relevant information about the races and candidates that they will be voting on in the 2024 General Election.”
The Secretary also encouraged users of the new Guide to spread the word to friends or family. She encouraged Vermonters to utilize their local library if they lack internet access. Voters can use the Department of Libraries’ Find a Library Tool to share with offline friends, so that all Vermonters can use the new Guide.
