Montpelier, VT – Today Vermont Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas announced the date and towns included in the post-election audit of 2024 Vermont General Election results, which will occur on Tuesday, December 3 at the Vermont State House in Montpelier, starting at 9am.
Seven randomly selected towns will be included in this year’s audit: Bennington-2, Burke, Canaan, Dorset, Pawlet, Vergennes, and Winooski.
Following the November 5 election, all cast ballots were sealed in ballot bags and held securely by the town clerks in their vaults. Every ballot cast in the seven selected precincts will be audited, and every race on those ballots will be included in the audit.
Secretary Copeland Hanzas will offer brief remarks to kick off the audit and be available for questions.
The audit is open to members of the public and the press.
