Step 1

The first step is selecting your business type. From profit corporations to LLCs and Limited Partnerships, you can learn more about the types of businesses you can register with this office by clicking below. Once you've selected your business type, go to the Online Business Service Center to complete registration.

Step 2

Depending on your business type, it may be necessary to register with the US Internal Revenue Service. Visit the US IRS online at www.irs.gov

Depending on the size and type of your business, you may also be required to file with the U.S. Department of the Treasury - for more information on the Beneficial Ownership Information filing requirement, please visit Beneficial Ownership Information Reporting | FinCEN.gov

Step 3

Depending on your business type, you may need to establish a Vermont Corporate or Business Tax Account. You may establish this account with the Vermont Department of Tax, online at tax.vermont.gov

Step 4

Have employees? You may be required to establish an Employer Tax Account with the Vermont Department of Labor. Learn more at labor.vermont.gov

Step 5
