Step 1
The first step is selecting your business type. From profit corporations to LLCs and Limited Partnerships, you can learn more about the types of businesses you can file with this office by clicking below. Once you've selected your business type, go to the Online Business Service Center to complete your filing.

Step 2
Depending on your business, it may be necessary to register with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and/or the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Please visit irs.gov and fincen.gov for more information.
Step 3
Depending on your business type, you may need to establish a Vermont Corporate or Business Tax Account. You may establish this account with the Vermont Department of Tax, online at tax.vermont.gov
Step 4
Have employees? You may be required to establish an Employer Tax Account with the Vermont Department of Labor. Learn more at labor.vermont.gov
Step 5
